How GERRIC Allocates Students to Workshops

GERRIC’s priority is to place all students who apply. However if GERRIC receives more applications than there are places available for workshops, places will be allocated on the grounds of equity and need. Decisions on placement made by GERRIC are final. Places are not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Scholarships: The Lauren Kipic Memorial Scholarship

The Lauren Kipic Memorial Scholarship - was established in memory of Lauren, a former employee of GERRIC who was herself an academically talented young woman and a much loved and valued member of the Centre.

Who is eligible to apply?

This Scholarship has been established in Lauren’s memory to allow a disadvantaged student who loves learning, as Lauren did, to attend a GERRIC student program workshop on full scholarship. NB: One place only available in January program

The selection criteria include, but are not limited to:

Lauren was well travelled, athletic and loved the outdoors. Her keen interest in other cultures found her teaching students who speak English as a second language in Japan. Her passion for travel took her to almost every continent, but it was on her most recent trip - intended to be her last for a while - that Lauren tragically lost her life.

Lauren loved teaching and learning and she loved to see the passion for learning that is shown by so many students who come to the GERRIC programs.

If you love learning, live in a regional area of Australia or, speak English as your second language, you are invited to apply for The Lauren Kipic Memorial Scholarship. To apply send in your application form with documentation that supports the selection criteria.

Twice Accelerated: Advanced Placement

How do I apply?

Advanced placement recognises the need for flexibility to advance a student who is exceptionally gifted.

Example 1: Students who are in Year 3 or 4 may apply for special consideration to attend a Year 5 & 6 course provided that the student can supply evidence of demonstrated ability which is truly exceptional.

Example 2: Students with a full scale IQ over 150 will be considered for advanced placement if documentary evidence is provided.

Advanced placement requests must be in writing and must include a documentary evidence of fulfilment of selection criteria. The final placement decision is that of GERRIC.
