Topic: Every Gifted Child Should Learn Something New Every Day: Tips for Working Effectively with Your Child’s School
Descriptor: In this Seminar, Ann will look at parent and school relationships. Parents want the best for their children; educators want their students to do well. Both parents and educators have questions about what works at home and at school to foster the talents of children and adolescents. In what ways can parents collaborate effectively with schools to assure their child is engaged in enjoyable learning and happy with a sense of accomplishment?
Professor Ann Robinson is President of America's National Association for Gifted Children. She is also Director of the Center for Gifted Education at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

Topic: Secondary Focus: Developing Skills through Adolescence
Descriptor: The challenges associated with parenting gifted adolescents can be extremely complex. How does one parent in ways that acknowledges advanced intellectual capabilities yet temper this with the knowledge that an adolescent’s life experience and judgment may not be at the same level? What strategies can be used to support sensitive gifted adolescents develop resilience through the social and emotional maelstrom of the teen years? What are the skills that must be nurtured in order to translate natural abilities into talents and academic achievements?
